The graduates of the UFES Mathematics Graduate Program have significantly contributed to various academic and professional fields, reflecting the comprehensive training offered by the program.
The program provides solid master's training, preparing students to continue their studies at the doctoral level. As a result, 26 alumni have achieved doctorates from renowned institutions in Brazil, with some obtaining dual degrees from prestigious institutions abroad. These PhDs excel not only in Pure and Applied Mathematics but also in interdisciplinary areas such as Physics, Environmental, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering, Statistics, and Accounting.
Additionally, 12 alumni are currently pursuing their doctorates, demonstrating a continued commitment to research and knowledge advancement in their respective fields.
In terms of academic careers, 51 alumni are working in higher education, with 37 holding permanent positions at public higher education institutions in Brazil and one in Canada. This group reflects not only the demand for qualified educators but also the alumni's competence in contributing to teaching and training new professionals in their fields of expertise.
Beyond higher education, some graduates have chosen to contribute to basic education, with four dedicated to teaching at the secondary and elementary levels in the state of Espírito Santo, where mathematics education is crucial for students' foundational education.
Another group of alumni, consisting of five professionals, has chosen to pursue careers in the private sector, holding strategic positions as analysts in banks, consulting and engineering firms, and e-commerce platforms. This diversity in the job market highlights the program's multidisciplinary training, preparing graduates not only for academia but also for the business sector, where practical application of mathematics is essential for data analysis, modeling, and strategic decision-making.
