Solidarity, Nucleation, and Visibility

Solidarity:

The Graduate Program in Mathematics (PPGMAT) has a strong social presence in the region. With the emergence of various university-level courses in the state, there is an increasing demand for qualified professionals in the field of Mathematics. As evidenced by information from alumni, many professionals trained by the program have been hired by higher education institutions in municipalities such as Vitória, Vila Velha, Colatina, Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, Alegre, Piúma, and São Mateus. This demonstrates that the program significantly contributes to meeting the local demand for qualified professionals in higher education.

Additionally, the productive sector also seeks well-prepared professionals in the technological area, who require new techniques and mathematical knowledge. PPGMAT is equipped to operate in this sector, providing the necessary expertise to meet the demands of industry and commerce, further expanding its social and economic impact in the region.

Nucleation:

The program is relatively new, currently offering only a master's course in Mathematics. However, its rapid consolidation and growth reflect its potential for future expansion, including the possibility of implementing doctoral courses and other specializations.

Visibility:

The PPGMAT website, developed as an institutional project by PRPPG/UFES, meets all the requirements suggested by CAPES, providing detailed information and procedures related to master's and doctoral courses. This includes most of the information required by the Coleta/CAPES system, facilitating access to essential data for the internal (faculty, students, and staff) and external public.

The program has received significant support from state agencies (such as FAPES) and federal agencies (such as CAPES and CNPq). This support includes postdoctoral scholarships, acquisition of travel tickets, financial aid for event organization, and resources for purchasing books and equipment. The inclusion of Mathematics at UFES as a Developing Center of the National Institute of Science and Technology (INCTMat) also highlights the importance and visibility of the program. These supports have been decisive for the implementation of PPGMAT's actions.

The program has promoted scientific events of great regional impact, contributing to the dissemination of mathematical knowledge. These events not only encourage potential candidates to join the program but also promote interactions between PPGMAT researchers and those from other regions, as well as involving Mathematics students and related areas.

The diverse roles of alumni in various municipalities of the state also contribute to increasing the program's visibility, demonstrating its impact and relevance in training qualified professionals who work in different academic and professional contexts.
