The Program has access to the UFES INTEGRATED LIBRARY SYSTEM (SIB/UFES).
This system holds 263,704 items, including 115,693 titles and 2,438 journal titles. The collections of the Central Library and the Sectorial Libraries of the Departments of Mathematics and Statistics contain all the titles listed in the references of the program’s courses, as well as many advanced-level titles for the development of research projects in Mathematics. In 2008, UFES implemented a remote access system to the CAPES Portal, allowing access to the portal from outside the university campuses. Access to the Central Library’s collection and most of the services for users is available on the official UFES website.
The Central Library, a supplementary entity directly linked to the Rector’s Office, coordinates the technical procedures for all units of SIB/UFES, necessary for providing information for Teaching, Research, Extension, and Administration activities at UFES. It has a collection of 189,125 items, including 90,499 book titles, and 4,208 items and 2,952 thesis and dissertation titles.
The Sectorial Library of the Departments of Mathematics and Statistics has a collection of approximately 4,800 titles and provides a computer with internet access. The collection was mainly obtained through CNPq funding, donations, and agreements established by UFES. More recently, various copies were acquired with financial resources from the Millennium Institute for Global Advancement and Integrated Brazilian Mathematics (IM/AGIMB) and the National Institute for Mathematics Science and Technology (INCTMat).
The SIB/UFES is computerized with over a hundred computers connected to the internet. We have actively participated in the CAPES JOURNAL PORTAL, which is a highly valuable tool for developing research, particularly in the Stricto Sensu Graduate Programs. In addition to access within the SIB/UFES facilities, professors and students also access the CAPES Portal from various teaching units. Besides direct access within UFES facilities, professors, students, researchers, and UFES staff can access the CAPES Journal Portal from outside UFES in two ways (cf.):
I - Through the Federated Academic Community (CAFe), using the "MEU ESPAÇO" link at the top right of the Portal page, where users can utilize UFES's institutional identification, as UFES has been part of CAFe since 2011;
II - Through SAR - Remote Access Service to the CAPES Journal Portal, which was created in late 2008 through a partnership between the Research and Graduate Studies Pro-rectorate (PRPPG), the Data Processing Center (NPD), and the Central Library.
The SIB/UFES is part of the following networks: PERGAMUM, BIREME, COMUT, BIBLIODATA, REBAP, REBAE, CCN, ISTEC. Among the services offered by SIB/UFES, we highlight:
Online Catalog;
Home Lending;
User Training;
Bibliographic Survey;
Guidance and Standardization of Academic Works;
Bibliographic Commutation;
Reservation of Bibliography Used in Courses;
Cataloging in Publication;
Webpage;
Digital Library;
Interlibrary Loan;
Guidance and Training on the Journal Portal;
Publication of Dissertations and Theses in the Digital Library.
UFES DIGITAL LIBRARY OF THESES AND DISSERTATIONS (BDTD/UFES):
Finally, but no less important, we would like to mention the UFES DIGITAL LIBRARY OF THESES AND DISSERTATIONS (BDTD/UFES). It was created in 2006 and provides full access to the content of Theses and Dissertations defended in the stricto sensu Graduate Programs at UFES, and is integrated with the National BDTD, maintained by IBICT. This BDTD meets CAPES Ordinance No. 13, dated February 15, 2006, which requires the submission of Theses and Dissertations in both print and electronic formats and their availability on the internet.
